“Gender and mobile” in TOKYO Medifes 2009

Yonnie Kim, a member of MoDe was on the panel in a discussion session about “Mobile media as a lifeline” in TOKYO Medifes 2009 held on Sep 21.
The session was planned to discuss the gender issue of the mobile society, in particular, from the perspectives of the social minorities and the vulnerable. Panelists included the representative of a supporting group of female sexual minorities and a leader of a online community of single parent. It was indicated that the mobile media, especially in Japan from its uniqueness of keitai culture, is working as a very important information channel for the poor and the social vulnerable, and relevant social accounts may be required to taken to.
