実践のまとめーMedia Conté 2008 in 可児 Vol.2

自動車産業を中心とした東海地方の製造業は、90年以降、多くの外国人を労働者として受け入れてきた。しかし、中には短期雇用で町を去ってしまう労働者も多い状況のなかで、同じ地域に暮らしていても 彼らが何を思い、どんな生活を送っているのか、かいま見る機会はほとんどないままだ。
メディア・コンテ2008　in 可児　では、だからこそ、そうした親たちとともに日本にやってきた外国籍の子どもたちにストーリーを作ってもらった。普通、私たちが映像を作るというのは、何か「特別なこと」であることが多い。運動会であったり、旅行であったり。でも今回はそうじゃない。「通学路」「わが家の宝物」「やっかいなこと」といった日常にこだわったテーマだ。
人の日常というのは、どの国でも、どんなひとでもそれほど違わないだろう。ごはんを食べて、掃除して、洗濯をして、学校や会社に行き、休日には大切なひとと過ごす。でき上がった作品群を見ても、外国籍の子どもたちも、私たちと同じようなことをやっかいだと感じ、幸せだと感じている。そういう意味では、国籍が違ったって何も変わらない。
しかし、大学生たちは、私たちと変わらない子どもたちの日常生活の描写の中に、「少しでもいい職業につくために、妹には高校に行ってほしい」「一生懸命働いてくれる両親のためにいい娘になりたい」なんていう子どもたちの声を敏感に見つけ出し、驚き、それが意味することが何なのか必死で聞き出しながら一緒にストーリーを編みあげていった。そのプロセスは、恵まれた環境にある大学生たちにとっても、なぜ自分たちが学ぶか、将来どうするのかを考えることにもつながっていった。
映像を作った子どもたちも、 身の回りをあらためてカメラで探り、 思いを整理して大学生という他者に語ることで、自分の将来や方向性について少なからず考えたようだ。そういう意味では、映像を作った外国籍の子どもたちも、それを手伝った大学生たちも、互いが触媒になりながら、自分自身について考えながら作り上げた、共同のストーリーだったといえるかもしれない。
こうしてでき上がった「映像」は、私たちが普段目にする映像とは、見た目も、そのプロセスも背景も意味も異なる。互いの日常に介入し、ともにストーリーを作り上げるという経験は、簡単に言葉では表し得ない相手への深い共感をもたらした。これっていったい何なんだろう？　今後、もう少し同様の試みを続けながら考えていきたい。
最後に、ウェールズで同様の活動を行っているみなさん、子どもたちの置かれた背景について熱く語ってくれた小島先生、可児市国際交流協会のみなさんをはじめ、煮詰まったときに状況を打開するようなアイディアをくださったエクスプリモのみなさん、そして何より、見違えるように成長し、感動を与えてくれた愛知淑徳大学の学生さんと可児のアミーゴスたちに感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。可児ケーブルテレビでの放送は10月25日、26日の予定。（文責：小川明子）
Since 1990, Corporations such as car and macine industries in Tokai district has been employing a huge number of Japanese descendants from South America and the Philippines. We often see them on the street, but their voices are not be heard. 　How we get to know each other?
In Media Conte 2008, we exprimo members and university students of Aichi Shukutoku University worked with teenagers of foreign citizenship in Kani, Gifu Pref. We helped kids make photo based digital stories of their daily lives , like 　” on the way to school” “our family treasure” and “That’s troublesome!” etc.
Then, we found their stories about their daily lives, troublesome worries, and the love to their families are almost the same as ours. Yes, we are not that different as we expected!
But university students found the kids sometimes saying ” I want my younger sister get higher education” ” I want to be a good daughter because my parents works very hard for us” etc , Maybe, they might never have thought : why I am studying at the university ? for what? so far.
Also, kids had to think of their identities and future visions. Well, storytelling may not a personal work. The stories might be fruits of collaborative work among them!
Thus, while working together, kids and university students both learned each other. It might be a happy coincidence. But the workshop brought us mutual understanding indeed. And I don’t know why we get emotional whenever we see their stories. Each video clips they created seems much different than the videos made by professionals of mass media in many ways.
The stories are going to be broadcast by CATV in Kani on Oct.25-26.
